The company was founded in 1981 and has been following a continuous upturn, making it the largest Wood Processing Industry in Greece and one of the most significant in the Balkans.

Together, they have successfully established the ALFA WOOD group in the Greek and international markets, continually adhering to the important core values: dynamism, loyalty, sense of responsibility and reliance

The founders have dynamically developed the group by designing innovative guidelines on the strength of its board members. They have envisioned and collectively set viable goals, ensuring their achievement, and expanding services in new, more ambitious directions.

Facilities

The facilities in the industrial area of Larissa cover 50.000 m2 with the factory comprising of 29.000m2.The products manufactured at this factory are:

The premises in Grevena are located on a privately owned plot of 107.000m2, with the buildings occupying 27.200m2. The products manufactured at this factory are:

The facilities at Nevrokopi are spread over an area of 228,000m2 of which 15,300m2 are factory premises. The Nevrokopi unit is active in the production of bio-fuels and green energy. The products manufactured at this factory are:

We reduce environmental impact in all of our practices so that we can look to the future

Recycling

At ALFA WOOD we are proud of the environmental role we play in the whole timber supply chain, in the production of wood-based fibreboard and alternative solid fuel based on forest biomass. The re-use of wood residues for wood and energy production, leads to savings in raw materials and a reduction in the intensity and extent of logging in the forests. This results in cost-effective production with the lowest possible environmental impact. We ensure minimal impact on land, water and air, by reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, since the thermal energy and much of the electricity we use is produced only by wood residues.
We promote and accelerate the recycling of wood waste by other producers to the fullest extent, providing effective management solutions while protecting nature from the unnecessary deposition of wood by-products in streams and undesignated areas.

Renewable energy sources

ALFA WOOD group is one of the first licensed plants in the waste wood processing sector in Greece.
The company, with respect to sustainability and sustainable development, invests in new equipment, taking an active role in trying to improve environmental applications. We process the residues from our production process, as well as any kind of timber residues including: timber, plant tissue waste, wood packaging and other materials, which we then use to produce alternative fuels.

Sustainable forestry

We support national forestry management in our country and the planet in general. We use timber and forest biomass as raw materials for the production of industrial products and renewable energies, achieving sustainable development.
That is why we prioritise the use of timber from fully managed and certified forests. The timber we supply for our plant production comes from controlled logging sources. We also implement the forest certification program (FSC) from the Forest Stewardship Council, believing that any human intervention in the environment must be done in a way that is balanced, ensuring the relationship between the exploitation of natural resources and the evolution of ecosystems for generations to come.

Sustainable development

The protection of the environment, as well as the care of providing the primary raw material, which is wood, is based on a turnover that is governed by the sustainable management of the forest environment.
• The wood industry obtains the timber it will use for the production of panels, exclusively by suppliers who are verified by the certified government agencies (Forestry divisions/forestry inspectorates) as well as international organisations such as FSC®. During the production process, we opt for internationally certified management systems such as quality management, low formaldehyde emission, fire and water resistance. ISO 9001: 2015, CE, FSC, CARB, E0, FIRE RETARDANT AND WATER RETARDANT.
• The product reaches the consumer in full transparency, according to the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which provides important information on the environmental and health aspects of the manufacturing process for each of our key products.
• All wood processing by-products resulting from the production process, as well as those not suitable for sale, are re-processed and used either for new wood panel production or for biomass energy production, depending on their origin
• At the same time, biomass, through the combustion process, generates heat as well as “green electricity”.
